A little about me

Hey There!

My name is Aariana. I’m a digital marketer turned UX/UI designer who has a passion for designing intuitive, beautiful, and sustainable experiences with humans at the center.

In my free time I love reading, exploring my city for new restaurants, search for new hiking trails, and learning about art and design.

Long Story Short:
I grew up in the diverse suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. I’m a mental health & invisible illness advocate. I also value sustainability and do my best to think about the impact we have on our planet.

Short Story Long

  • My mom is a nurse practitioner at the University of Pennsylvania, my step father is a doctor from Sudan, and my sister is a professional actress and cos-player. I’ve been best friends with the same people that I’ve known and loved since 3rd grade.

When I was in high school I learned that I have a genetic disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome type 3. It does make life a bit more challenging as it can make my joints lock up from time to time. However, I have used Ayurveda and herbalism to help manage pain and flares throughout the years. Managing this naturally allowed me the freedom to be on dance teams, choirs, and even musicals in grade school and college.

  • There were a lot of times I didn’t really feel like I fit in with my peers. When this happened I would escape into books, writing, and creating digital art. I would make and edit videos, spend hours on photoshop, and over time filled countless notebooks with fun characters and stories. Creating and designing are two of my true passions. I have always loved everything about the creative process.

Finding UX/UI design showed me that this is a great field for me because I love psychology and understanding people. Finding empathy and compassion for my target is usually very easy as a person that needed to think outside of the box often. I also love the artistic aspect because I can always think of new and beautiful ideas quickly. Design also ties my college and work experience in perfectly.

  • I wasn’t always sure what I would study for college. I always felt like a Jack of all trades. However, in the end, I landed on studying and getting my B.A. in Digital Communications and Social Media Management from Cabrini University. I also became certified in UX/UI Design from Thinkful.

  • Like most millennials, it took me a bit longer than I expected to find my first job after college. After a year of searching I was very excited to join an education technology company that focuses on creating STEM curriculum for schools all around the USA and the world. Here I learned how to code on the job by making landing pages and websites.

I started a company blog and created email campaigns to send out to teachers nationwide. I managed social media accounts and a CRM system called Pipedrive. I helped university and grade school staff with questions and meetings everyday. I even worked on testing, building, and fixing ground robots and drones.

I wore several different hats and always told myself that everything is figuroutable (Marie Forleo is honestly a genius). I found that trusting the process of creating MVPs is way more important than being a perfectionist. If you’re looking for someone that will always be a self-starter and won’t hesitate to ask questions and put in the work I’m definitely your missing puzzle piece!
